Fucking Up and Fixing It- A Weekly Guided Reflection Group

The goal isn’t to never mess up.

The goal is to learn what to do after something doesn’t go the way you hoped.

"We look at what happened, consider what the child may have experienced, examine our own part in the interaction, and figure out what repair or a different response might look like going forward."
This isn't reflection for reflection's sake. Because getting it wrong isn't the end of the relationship. What happens next matters.

When?

A new cohort opens every 4 weeks — no long wait for the next one to start.

Where?

Virtually (Zoom Meeting)

Who?

Small Group Size Typically 4-8 people

We All Came To The Table For The Same Reason

Nobody joins FU & FI because everything is going perfectly. Everyone has interactions they wish had gone differently — that includes me.

So when someone brings a situation to the group, our job isn't to decide what they did "wrong" and announce what they should have done instead.

We get curious.
No judgment.
Different perspectives.
A shared willingness to look again.

I'm Not Standing At The Front Of The Room With The Answer Key

I fuck up too.

My role isn't to listen to your story and announce what you should have done — I'm much more useful as a mirror.

I also bring years of studying child development and infant and early childhood mental health, so when there's a developmental reason something isn't working, I can help you see it.

Fuck Up → Figure Out → Fix It

8-week rolling group · week-by-week breakdown coming soon

Fuck Up

Something didn't go the way you intended.

Before deciding the child was being difficult, disrespectful, or manipulative, we start by getting curious about what actually happened.

No defending. No beating yourself up.

FIGURE OUT

We slow the interaction down.

What happened?

What might the child have experienced?

What did you bring to it?

Reflective practice gives us a chance to see things that were hard to see while we were standing in the middle of them.

Fix It

We are not fixing the child.

"Fixing it" means looking at our part of the interaction — what needs repair, what needs to change, what's worth trying next.

The goal isn't a perfect answer. It's a more intentional next step.

Two Groups. One Shared Philosophy.

The reflective process is the same. The context isn't.
